I don't know how much quilting you do, but it sounds quite excessive to me.

If someone is interested, you can let them bargain and perhaps get 40% or so of your investment back. Keeps it simple.

    Oh, and here's the thread:

I probably have a medium stash by Australian standards. I recently spent $60 on may be 30 FQs, a couple of flag panels and maybe 10 pieces of yardage, some of which is co-ordinated. I make a few charity tops each year and sew my own presents when suitable (not everyone wants a quilt or bag etc). This week I made a quilted tote from my pile of precut 5 inch squares, some scrap batting and 1/2 metre of patterned fabric for lining and using a free pattern from Mods Bake Shop. I don't think I have too much because I am regularly using it.

My friend has cleaned out twice an about the last 2-3 years and given it to me, so I re-organize mine, keep what I still like, and then take a bunch to donate to the guild's comfort quilt program. I have most of my tubs labeled now so can find what I am looking for. Most of my "kits" are in their own plastic shoe boxes on shelves. I have about 3 more years until retirement and can hardly wait to have time to play with it. The way prices are going, I think I will be glad to have plenty of supplies for my hobby when I am living on retirement income.
I'm in the same boat as you. I have one more year until early retirement and I can't wait for more time to sew!

One can never have too much fabric--at least until the guilt sets in. I don't have a super large stash, but boy with fabric prices sky-rocketing like they are, I'm thankful for the stash I do have from when I was splurging. Of course splurging can cause some mistakes, and those I use for charity quilts. Think about homeless shelters, abused women and children's centers, veteran organizations, (its amazing how many homeless veterans there are)and such. My favorite two are the senior center and the children's cabinet because both of these groups will take either fabric or finished products. I also donate to smaller quilt groups within the guild. Some of these groups quilt for charity and can accomplish lots when I don't have the time to help. Now, I try to just buy by project, or on sale, I keep my scraps and make at least one small project using them after finishing a big one. However, I must confess, just entering the fabric store sets my adrenaline running and every now and then, I lose all will power when i see a special fabric or 2, 3, 4------------that I can't live without. Happy quilting!

I don't know guys, even my scrap boxes are taking over in the sewing room. I finally decided to cut back a bit and haven't been buying everything that catches my eye. It is seeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww hard to do.Now I only get a piece big enough to do what I need in a particular project. My stash will undoubtedly outlive me and someone on this board is going to have a "SCORED" post to make

I think I am in the medium range of fabric collection. I was beginning to think I had too much but a lot of is smaller pieces and I just need to go through it for donation. Me keeping it if I most likely won't use it is silly at least it is to me.
