Your background color is a matter of personal preference. It depends on what color you want to highlight in the plate. The dark blue makes the red and white stand out. The light blue makes only the red stand out. The green pops the gold colors. If you do a sashing, I would select the background first and then cue the sashing to the color highlighted.

I love the dark blue. It is such a nice contrast to the plate. Keep us posted as to what you decide.

WHA? WHA? WHA? HUH? WHAAAT?! *vrooom*! over my head with that! ... okay I got the background info but the sashing, I don't understand. Whatever colour the background makes stand out on the plate, make that the same as the sashing?
