I have some scraps from a quilt that my aunt finished in 1929, it was a Grandmother's Flower Garden with the little tiny pieces, she had some extra fabric in with the quilt top

I probably have fabric from several time periods. My oldest is 30's fabrics at about 80 yrs old. Then I have fabrics from the '70s, '80s, & '90s right up to current. A lot of my stash is old, but I don't know how old.

My oldest fabric was inherited from my Grandmother. As I am the only grandchild that quilts I got her stash. I found one piece in a paper bag that has the receipt for 1932 and it was 6 yards of gold lame, the real stuff. I don’t think that I could bring myself to cut into it. My son took push pins and used the fabric with several twist and attached it to the wall in the entry way in my house and then hung some of my mini quilts in the open places. I have tried to get a picture but the flash makes it look like fireworks and you can’t see the real effect. Maybe a new camera is in order.

I still have the quilt I made out of mastadon hair that our pet dinosaur used to lay on by the fire. :D

What a handsome kitty! They can spot me a mile away... My latest is "proby" as in NCIS. I am not sure about my oldest fabric but my two oldest quilts are depression era with flour sack backs. Your site is wonderful, thanks so much

What a small world - my brother attended Mass. Maritime Academy from 1955-58. My cousin also attended a couple of years later.

My oldest fabric is some cotton I used to make my maternity clothes 44 years ago. I wasn't quilting then only sewing a little. Not knowing what to do I simply took the leftover fabric and made 4" squares. I added squares from clothes I made for my daughter a couple of years later. Then put those squares together into blocks which I still have in a bag. I never went any further with the project. Would the fabric still be ok to make something with?

Years later I made a quilt of sorts from a bedspread, old quilt and a sheet. My son loved his Stars Wars bedspread but beds weren't being made daily so I figured it would look nicer to have a comforter/quilt. I finally really started to make quilts about 8-9 years.

Wow, that's a question? I think I have some that are from the 50's from the looks of the print and feel.
