Pardon me, but why are you reading this thread? Is no one else trying the challenges? Tomorrow is September.
How nice that Suzy is still trying.

September Challenge----- A Big Change Coming---------- in the next few months there is A Polar Magnetic Shift

"The sun is gearing up for a major solar flip, NASA says. In an event that occurs once every 11 years, the magnetic field of the sun will change its polarity in a matter of months, according new observations by NASA-supported observatories." ---Link here about what this means; http://www.space.com/22271-sun-magnetic-field-flip.html

While there are a number of doomsday sites out there actual data shows that we will all be fine, just changed.

So what about your big changes this year? Got some life changes happening? New baby in the family? Moved to a new town and life? Lose some you loved?

Express what' s going on in a quilt--the bigger the change in your life the better a subject for your quilt!!!!!

Get the thinking and then go to it.

Remember though these are NOT supposed to be master works! They should be experiments and generally smaller- something you can create in a month or less. Make a 12 x 12 block only if you like. But get your creativity stirred and do something out of your usual mold.

(Quite frankly if we don't get some more actual action happening here I am going to have to shut the thread down as it does take time and effort I could spend elsewhere. 50,000 lookers and little creative input from others means I am on a soapbox on a street corner here----hmm great idea for a little quilt... But the point is for us to share our works techniques and ideas, whether they have to do with the challenge or not)

I am reading this thread but am so new to quilting that i've yet to step into the world of ART quilts. I love the challenge about big changes. During the past year, my family has a lot of life come and go. One daughter has been pregnant 4 times with a total of 5 babies. We are praying this one makes it to full term and is healthy. Our other daughter gave birth to our first grandchild. My brother and father both passed away. And the year before that I gained two amazing sons - my daughters choose well. In my mind I see my quilt being a circle showing my family somehow expressing both joy and sadness. I am not ready to step into actually quilting this but the wheel in the brain is turning and that's a start. I absolutely love seeing the posts that other put up. I learn so much from them and believe me there is much out there for me to learn!!

There have been 3 marriages in our extended family. I am making modern versions of the double wedding ring block.
Molly & Rob's wedding in the city park, Anna Kate & Nate's vintage chic wedding in a barn, and Andrea and Grace's wedding in Brooklyn, featuring donuts. Will share before Suzy & I both give up & move on. The Metro Mod Quilting guild is sponsoring an international exploration of DWRing blocks... As previously reported. Dotty

Confession time. I've been so busy, I've not had time to even think about the challenges. So I've been lurking. My next challenge is to give a demo on art quilt to an art group. No one elsewho comes to the meetings uses fiber. here are photographers, oil, watercolor, pastels, acrylics, gourds, landscapes and portraits. The technique I'm thinking of is raw edge squares. Here's a sampleOr a demo and activity using Inktense.
