i worked in a swat shop on Long Island mZking dance costums, the only white girl there, quit after a few days, no one spoke english, and the work was hard and fast. also worked at a casket co, that was great, did embroidery and finishing of the inserts, the machine did at slow 2,000m per minute, at first it was fast, but after a few days, it was slow to me, my home machine was tooo slow after that.

As Katia said, I also used to work in sewing factorys. Several yrs of different ones. Those machines are that fast and as she said there are mechanics right there if needed. We were paid on production. Made good money, but had to be fast.

It might, but I do not believe the foot you are looking at would be the same. We had certain machines with the attachment to do bindings. This looks nothing like them. Good luck to those that are going to try.

However, this does look indeed like a sweat shop.

This would take all the fun out of quilting.

I worked in a garmet factory that made better dresses in the 50's. You work on piece work (so much for each piece you sew), you can make good money if you are fast enough. You sew on the same thing like setting sleeves or darts , zippers. It gets to be something you don't even think about just sew. My mother worked in the same factory for 40 years I lasted 2 but made good money.

Google Bias Tape Attachment for your brand of machine.

You have the same machine I do (yay). I wrote to Kenmore this morning, they don't have it. So if you found something that works with yours, please let me know. While searching for the attachment, I found this link with all kinds of patterns, thought I would share it with everyone http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...nter/Patterns.

Poor souls are probably getting paid 10 cents an hour.
