Also, I guess I didn't read about the start of this challenge really well. Are we supposed to do just a fabric collage design? To me, but that is just me, an art quilt would have things like people, houses, trees, flowers, etc. Is it just supposed to be a mixed media?
Thanks so much for answering my question.
Well I think you are tight about the holidays and possible conflicts and the newest theme will be posted Sat 23rd.

These 'art' quilts can be about anything........

I think this is more about having all of us stay both within our comfort zones and yet also stretching just a bit beyond into new techniques, colors, ways of looking at a favorite subject, etc. The idea of a challenge was to give a few 'guidelines' to try and work within and then take your ideas of what you love and and expressing it in fabric.

And anytime anyone would like to suggest ideas and themes I am all agog! I would love for this to be collaborative and helping us all to learn and grow a little.

    Hello All!

First let me apologize for tardy or seemingly no responses to ideas and questions. My subscription to this thread did not complete! I never heard from anyone and I kept wondering why there was no interest at all in this topic.

So now that this is remedied I hope we can get some nice cohesive ideas explored here.

Anyone who wants to suggest a few guidelines for the art group are warmly welcomed.

Great Suzie! We seem to want you to be the leader & set the themes. Somehow I got 2 for June. I did "monochromatic" & now I am working on "independence". This does not have to have to be a swap. Dotty

    JULY CHALLENGE Refreshing and cool!

How can you interpret this challenge?

A little quilt filled with sherbert colored popcicles or ice cream?
A blue, white and grey glacier on the ocean?
Snowflake white on white raw edged applique? Ahhh, so many ideas.
(I did think of a grey boxlike a/c unit with a big red lipped kiss on it....)

    Looking forward to the photos.

Please think of sharing things you try out with us. Photos of WIP going either well or not are fun to share

Default Here is a shot at June Challenge

My June challenge results. Did a string pieced idea with black as every other color. Purples and reds are favorite colors and block is now getting it's final tidy up satin stitch then into a little kitchen wall quilt for charity. Wine is a big deal here in Chile and so several charity auctions were happy to see this little off the cuff experiment.

Anybody else got some goodies to show off?

C'mon I know you all bought fabric on sale this month............what did you do with it?

i heard there's a train that goes from here to there and back again, so nyc isn't impossible to get to, and a person might could get unstuck, for a day!
Does this mean you are happy to be our August leader?????

    Suzie,
I'd prefer one person to coordinate. Never liked group projects. Input from others could be considered. Dotty

Suzie- your latest should do well at a charity auction.....it's very nice. Vineyards are very big where I live - mind if I copy a bit of your idea?
