I do have a notebook that I have lists of the blocks. I have a list of on-point blocks and a list of the straight-set blocks. This was so I could design the layout. Then I wrote two more lists - appliqué blocks and pieced blocks.
Now it is time to expand on the lists and indicate the symbolism. So instead of just "Dove block, straight-setting, paper pieced", I will write down that it represents that I was known as the diplomat among my siblings.

JenP...What a fabulous memory quilt you made of all your favorite things and memories. Hope you keep the story of how and why you did it with it to pass on to future generations. All I can say is Wow!
