I know exactly what you are saying, and I agree. That is why we all need to be informed consumers. It's just hard to know who is honest and who isn't.
That being said, ask around and find out where your friends take their machines and do some research. Decide from there.
I just wish that as business owners we could research customers before taking their items in on repair. ;-)
Thanks for listening and not taking anything said as personal.
Have a good day and a wonderful Christmas!

I have been putting off my service on my sewing machine since the place I bought it from went bankrupt. I had a service contract with them that did not cost me anything for cleaning and standard maintenance. (they were a babylock dealer) now the quality sew and vac store wants to charge me 200.00.
When we quilters are watching our pennies go faster and faster on non-producing products I just want to cry. I guess my heart is going to have to shrink some for those donations we all so like to do.

This why I love the Featherweight. You can service it yourself. Mine has never been in the shop for anything and I have had it for about 28 years. I oil it lube it and adjust it myself all with the help of the manual. Jan

I guess If you pay the price for a computerized machine you need to expect to pay for the service when needed. That is why I haven't gotten nor do I want a computerized machine. My husband in his retirement years has worked on regular
computers. The stuff he has to go threw to get these computers up and running again is worth every penny. People
do terrible things to computers when they don't know how to
operate them correctly. I won't say the words he uses. ????

Have fun gal but expect to pay the experts for what they have to do.

I take my 15-year old Pfaff for servicing in Pensacola and it's $50.00. I take it in every couple of years. I also have a Bernina 440QE but's it too new for servicing yet. Also have a Viking Mega Quilter but I use it so infrequently now it still does not need servicing. Think I need to go to "sewing machine servicing" school.

Well I have Bernina 830 top of the line one and its seems to lock up now and then and only the repair guy can unlock it so this happened, took it in and the owner b\put on the bill may cost $100 and I asked about that and she said she said he can't be working for nothing anymore! So guess he cleaned out the lint in the top and did some updates and cost me $75!! He never charged me before and still uner warentee until next Apr!

It sounds real high. Joe just took my three to a local mechanic that works from his home. I will die if it is $200 per machine.

I paid $90 for mine last time and he adjusted the feeder feet, too. They weren't feeding through.

So, yeah, that sounds high to me.

I do find that you get better service when you buy and service at the same place. I always tell people to buy where they are going to be bringing it in for service.

Annual maintenance should be less than $100. I think you got "taken"
