Hi, I make quilts for our family reunions and I pick a color scheme and they send fabric, so I'm never really sure what I will get. Two years ago I asked for blues and I received the most wonderful array of blues. I did a dresden plate from a Quilt in a Day pattern and it was awesome. I used one darker blue in four "corners", then an almost batik center that coordinated all the fabric, then used three strips for sashing in blue and white that ended up being a nine-patch where the blocks met. I have to say it was one of the best quilts I have ever made, even though I cursed myself several times for picking that pattern, but it really wasn't hard. The dresden plate would be gorgeous in batiks, as well as a grandmother's fan. I think batiks are great for quilts, regardless of the pattern.

Here are a couple I have made in the last 5 weeks for graduation gifts for my grands[/quote]
Oh my, those are gorgeous! Thanks for the inspiration...now I just wish I had a machine to quilt one on!

If you are concerned about the quilting on your small throated machine, you may want to consider a quilt as you go method such as 'fun and done". It is not specifically for boutiques but the stripe pattern would work well. A concentric log cabin with wide logs would also be stunning.
Anxious to see what you decide.
You are indeed blessed to have been given that wonderful fabric.
