or try rubbing it with a MR clean cleaning thing...the kitchen thing..forget the name...miracle cleaner or something like that...
I have one too and was wondering what to clean it with..
is your pad separating from the board...both of mine are and one is brand new!

thank you, i will try both of those ideas. no mine is not separating it is still in great shape and is over ten years old so it is time for a cleaning. i usually put a cloth on it but for some reason didn't think to since moving here 3 years ago.it is just the right size and works so good for me.i was worried about it coming apart and the pad messing up if i wetted it to much.

Mine was a mess so I went ahead and washed it. It was so bad I figured I had nothing to lose. I stood it on its side in the sink and wet it down with a water/liquid detergent mixture. Let it sit a while then scrubbed with a brush. I think I even used a light bleach mixture on one section - it was that dirty. Then I pressed out as much water as I could, rinsed under the faucet, pressed out the water. Kept rinsing until I got all the detergent out. Then hung outside in the sunshine to dry. It turned out great. I never use my pad for measuring so I don't know if this messed up the marking.
