I understand completely as every year I go to Florida for a month my husband golfs I take things to work on and I love it. People say that's not a vacation but it is to me. I love it...Our van is loaded to the top. One guy said how long are you staying you have enough suit cases for a year but it's my fabric and things to quilt with.......They are getting used to me now......

Absolute heaven. In my quilting group we have what we call a "sewing day", where we meet up in a hired hall, and then sew all day. No phones, no doorbells, just plenty of sewing, good company, and of cours plenty of home made cakes

I have had friends and family 'roll' their eyes when my sewing machine is loaded in the car (or rolled on the plane!). I have NEVER had them roll their eyes when my husband takes his golf clubs! What do they think I'm going to do for the 5 hours MINIMUM when he is golfing? I will do some shopping, but I would RATHER be sewing! Case closed!

You are so right! non quilters do not understand but girl I do and I am sitting here wishing that were me and my Hubby! he doesn't get to fish as much as he'd like either so we'd have enjoyed that time as well. Thanks for sharing.

When my "caboose" child (a daughter) was young we would vacation together. My husband would go fishing and we would just go. We'd drive until we found a motel close to what we might like to do - zoo, lake (boat trips) - stuff like that. The one requisite was a swimming pool. We would do the touristy stuff if we felt like it - otherwise I would sit by the pool with my books or needlework (cross stitching, needlepoint or knitting) and she would swim. Made for the most relaxing vacations.
