When I took my intro to quilting class last summer I thought I had done my last tedious, tiny little pieces block. No more triangles, flying geese, etc, not for me, no, no, no.

Well, I posted earlier that I was doing pinwheels - though they are large ones (6 1/2 inch block). And now ....

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages ....
I present to you....
a star!
Made with my 10 little fingers. Though it's not perfect I am no longer limited to straight lines, and square blocks! Whoo-hoo! (a bit of experience is a wonderful thing.)

I REALLY know this is not a big deal, but ... when most of my blocks have had 3 - 7 pieces to have one with 17 pieces is a door opening to all kinds of things I just wouldn't look at before. Someone once asked what the attraction was for things like Yellow Brick Road, Turning 12, etc and I replied that I was happy with those because I could put the pedal to the metal and go, go, go. Now I'm thinking a pattern does not have to say "beginner" in order for me to try it. And I can take a bit more time to do something fun. So .. feels like a big deal to me! :)

Awesome! Its a great feeling isn't it? You don't realize how much you actually soak up with all the reading and ogling of quilt love until you go to try something new and it works. =)

Congratulations! And I notice that the points of your stars leave well enough room to add a border - well done! I've seen many stars and leaves where the points go right to the edge making it impossible to join them together and keep the pointy edges.

Your points have seam allowance, triangles meet square - looks you are moving on to bigger things! Good job.
