Some people need a lesson on etiquette and communication skills.

I have come across a few snobby quilters myself and they shouldn't be allowed to continue to belong to a group or work in the quilt shops.

I wouldn't show something at any meeting no matter what. The guilds around here are not known to be friendly. I am my own worst critic. Maybe in a few years I could show something I felt was good enough.

ouch is right, it probably took a lot of courage for that person to stand up in the first place. Now that she had that happen I doubt she'll have the courage to do it again. I attended a quilter guild in my home town once and was not treated with any warmth. I sat up front and nobody sat next to me or even near me, felt weird and I've not gone back.

Those darn quilt police...never know where they'll show up! I've been on the receiving end of that kind of discouragement and it isn't pleasant. Shame on them!

This is why I am not part of a formal guild.

I saw this happen at BOTM meet. A friend of mine pointed out that the LQS owner had missed her points in a couple of places. Oh my! She had just started quilting herself.

I'm truly shocked at this. I was in charge of Show and Tell for my guild for two years and I never saw a quilt that needed criticism. It is so easy to say nice things without being condescending. I personally would have gone to the victim, asked to see her quilt and then told her that I thought she did a good job, maybe in color choice, maybe in pattern, but in something.
