I've used a regular Mr. Coffee for my coffee since I started drinking it about 20 plus years ago.
A friend of mine gave me her mother's vintage Farberware percolator and I want to try it. This is how my mom made coffee when I was very young.
Does anyone still use one? I'm wondering if the coffee would be hotter or taste different. I only drink two to three cups/mugs in the morning.
Thanks!

I've used my Farberware percolator many times. It came in handy during power outages (when we had a camp stove). I have a little one and a larger one. Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to put it to use this week!

Percolated coffee, imo is sooo much better! Wish I could get my DH used to using one. He likes the speed of the coffeemaker we have though....

I use an electric percolator when I make coffee for guests. Since we don't drink coffee I can't say much about taste, but no one has complained.

Yes I use a percolator... it makes the reg grind coffee stronger. Because how it works is it recirculates the hot water/coffee as it perks. I let mine perk for about 10 min then I pull the plug. It keeps it hot enough for me to have my few cups. I do poke a hole in a filter and put a filer in before the grounds in the basket or you will have lots of fine grounds in the coffee.. It is very cute to use also.. hehehe

I woke to the sound of coffee percs every morning when growing up. Peculators make the coffee bitter not stronger that's why so many used a lot of cream in their coffee. Some like the taste better though. I still have my GE Stainless electric perc from my wedding shower.

I would choose percolated coffee over drip any day :D And after microwaves were available, we could turn off the big pot and heat up coffee as needed to keep it from getting bitter :D:D:D

My Mom still uses her electric Farberware perculator every day...she makes her coffee a little too weak for me, but it is HOT!!! BTW, she uses a Mr. Coffee filter in it...just pokes a hole in it for the stem.

I have the Corningware percolator that boils on the stove. I like the flavor of the coffee better when it's boiled. I use 1 teaspoon of coffee per cup because it's stronger with this method.

WARNING - it is boiling hot water so it will be very very hot.

we switched to a perculater because the people on the XM radio trucker's station said that is the best coffee ever.
