I understand that fabric prices, just like everything else, are going up. The thing that bothers me the most, and our local quilt shop is guilty of this very thing, is when you see an older bolt of fabric on the shelf with a new price tag on it. Talk about price gouging!!!!

The thing is it's not just the cost of new fabric that is going up. The cost of keeping the roof over that old fabric has gone up as well.

Notice in these comments that all the stores that gave the good prices are no longer in business.

What I don't understand is why I can buy 5 pack of Fiscar 45 mm rotary blades for 15.99 at Walmart and the SAME pack of blades cost 25.99 at Joann.
Try using carpet cutter blades from Harbor Freight. They fit our 45 rotary cutters just fine, cut just as good and only cost 1.99 for 2 blades

Wow, that is high. Do you shop online, might be cheaper for you.

I would never have thought to post to tell everyone to stop posting as I'm not interested in the topic anymore. This is too funny.

You are right QuiltE. $10/yd or mitre is a bargin in Ontario. Even when the Cdn dollar was higher we pay more. Plus our "discount" Fabricland keeps closing stores.

One thing I worry about is what about new quilters. I am a new quilter and I signed up for a FW quilt along. Well, I bought a piece of fabric for the border that is directional. I said... I wasn't sure about cutting it and they said - when the time comes we'll help you. If you have any trouble this month we'll help you. The other shop I frequent a lot is the same way. You can go or call with a question and I love the ladies that work there, so sometimes I stop in to see what's new and just have a quick chat. Not take up too much time or if I know there is a sale in progress I just have a look around and move on. I like to shop in my pajamas, but you just don't get the help that you need when your a newbie.
