Thanks so much everyone. I'm at a stop on it for a little bit because I can't piece the background. I don't have one bit of white thread. I have looked everywhere and seems I have every other color, including 3 spools of black, but no white.

It's back to my day job tomorrow but there is a JoAnn's Superstore nearby and I need the applique thread anyway. Maybe more pins too...

I just did a pile of ironing, 31 FQs, and cut them all into 3 1/2" and 6 1/2" strips and put them all right sides together ready for some strip piecing on another quilt. I'm tired.

You are an inspiration. I bought a book online so I can see if it's something I might want to tackle. It seems like it would be a one of a kind for me. Thank you for posting your progress.
