I can understand people shopping at that hour!!! Think of people that work swing shift...........:) They get off at 11:00 or 11:30 -- PERFECT time for the store to be open!

Avoiding malls in particular. It's already started and not even Halloween, yet. Now I have streaming Netflix I can avoid the glut of "holiday" programming, too. Last night I began to watch "Upstairs, Downstairs" from the beginning (missed that in the original) and deconstructed flannel garments to use in a lap quilt.

Thankfully, when I worked retail years ago, businesses still had some decency about them and didn't schedule employees to work these crazy hours.

If the buying public stayed home and shopped during normal hours, maybe they would reconsider their strategy.

I refuse to shop during these times. No one "needs" to shop at midnight, or at 4 am. Just my opinion.

I'm doing Black Friday shopping. Always do, I've saved thousands. I'm out of the house by 2 AM and back by 9 at the latest. Love it.

Yes, the man was arrested. But I am much more thoughtful of store employees who work through the holiday season. It is not fun, folks. And yes, I realize work isn't always fun, and many would love to have one of those jobs, but you don't know the full story of working retail during Christmas shopping season. My son had a total of four hours to spend with family on Christmas Eve, and that included driving for three of the four hours.
I worked in retail from 1984 till 1999 when I finally had enough! To someone in retail the Holidays are stressful and exhausting. The hours are long and mosty places do not pay overtime. I would usually have to work till 12am on Christmas Eve WELL i guess that would actually be Christmas morning. Usually had the early shift of 5am for the day after.
