is there any way for me to increase the speed at which i hand quilt?

i think at the rate i am going the current quilt will take at least 500 hours and i'm not sure the recipient will be around to see it if that remains the case.

accepting all tips and offers of quilting bees. i make GREAT crustless sandwiches.

have you tried fewer stitches on the needle. If you are trying to fill the needle it is taking longer to pull it thru.
Fewer stitches make it faster.

It took me so long to quilt one quilt that I forgot what I had quilted on the bottom border that I had rolled. I only hand quilt baby quilts now. I love hand quilted quilts but I have too many quilts on my bucket list to complete. Good luck.

Stop sleeping and working (HA). Fewer stitches at a time, reduce the amount of quilting designs. Or treat it like a job, and quilt for a set amount of hours each day. The results will be worth the effort!!!

So, where do you live? Have thimble, will travel. Our local quilting group handquilted a raffle quilt many years ago. It was a lot of fun, and I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I'm not one to tell you how to go faster - my own quilts take forever. My only suggestion is to quilt every day, and eventually you get there.

I just posted the other day, asking what the longest everyone had taken on a quilt because the one I'm handquilting is taking forever....years! LOL!

You probably don't want to read that thread, though...........LOL! I will tell you that I think I seen 42 years on one!
