Been there - done that! Crossed off the jelly roll race off my bucket list. I thought I would die from boredom. I did learn something about me- I like more complex piece work lol

I quilt because I enjoy the process not because I want to get it done fast

The first four quilts I totally finished were jelly roll race quilts colour-themed for my four grandkids. I turned on reruns of Law & Order and away I went.

*LOL* I've just remembered that Hulalulu did the bindings! Mahalo my friend!!!

At any rate, I loved doing the jelly roll race quilts so much, I've made several more: they are perfect to practice quilting on.

Best use of the jelly roll race technique is to get kids using the sewing machine. Every time we have a 4-H showcase in my county I end up with the sewing display. I set up two or three machines with the strips started and let kids sew as long as they want. It teaches them to keep the seam even and controlling the speed. I use scrap strips and we usually can get at least one done in the 3 or 4 hours we have for the show. then the quilts are tied or I machine quilt them and they are donated. Have to turn kids on to sewing some how.

I meant to add that this is the perfect quilt to practice your quarter-inch seam.

Lots and lots of practice!
