Does anyone do embroidery by hand anymore?

I have access to mum's embroidery machine but prefer hand work. Our local fabric shop even sells a great stitch guide for those learning to embroider and lots of colors of floss. They would not bother if there were not lots of us left

Yes, I embelish alot of my quilts with some embroidery...I am a bit old fashioned and like to do embroidery on my pillow cases along with lace....I have many quilts that I embroidered...I find it very relaxing...

I don't do crewel work anymore but do counted xstitch (which is very addictive). I've also just started doing swedish embroidery again
(sometimes called huck weaving). I use to do it about 45 years ago and then stopped.

Just got back from vacation and am trying to catch up. Embroidery is one of my favorite pasttimes, although it takes several times as long as it used to because of my shaking hands. I even took some work with me on vacation. I'm currently working on some "Redwork in Blue" blocks. Our daughter has already spoken for the quilt, although I'm less than half done with the embroidered blocks.

OMG YES! In fact, I think it is enjoying a comeback. I notice(and buy from) many vendors showing up at quilt shows. I subscribe to several sites that promote embroidery. I almost always have a project going....right now it's tea towels for Christmas gifts. It's a great take-along work and is also good to do while listening to my books on my MP3 player.......
