Default Bitten by the treadle bug

Hello, please advise if not in the right place to ask a question. I have acquired a Minnesota Model A machine D1208722. Was cleaning it up and found 2 which look like gears down under the machine when I lifted it out. I've sewn with it, still adjusting tensions, trial and error. I am a newbie at this, but always wanted a treadle. Just wondered what the gears were and if they belong in the machine somewhere. Is there someone or someplace who could answer. I've taken a picture, and could forward. Thank you

Hi,

Your Min A was made by Davis Sewing Machine Co. around 1904. Can't think of any gears that belong on bottom of machine, might be able to ID with photo. Minnesota A is a pretty basic vibrating shuttle, only problem it uses different needles and long bobbins than the industry "standard"--Singer. They are still available though. Have fun.

Jon

Almost forgot, Minnesota is a Sears brand name.

Thank you very much, Jon. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. I'm thinking that they may have fallen in the bottom from something else. The machine seems to be working fine, again once I get the tension right.

Here's a similar manual for Davis Min. A, the "New A". Pretty much the same except for this is the newer (1910) streamlined version and Davis reworked the the frontplate. Might help out with tension and handy to have.
