Default How can I make this more "Christmasy"?

I made Darlene Zimmerman's Stars All Around tree skirt. Here is a link to the free pattern: http://www.simplicity.com/t-free-qui...ree-Skirt.aspx
Just the top is done so far and I haven't taken a picture, but it is exactly like the pattern. I used Bella Solid Christmas Tree red and a Kona white. I really like it. Problem is, everyone I show it to says it doesn't look like Christmas. Any ideas how I can make it more Christmas-like? Some kind of simple embellishments? What do you all think? Thanks!

How about applique in the white space (stocking, snowman, holly, etc)?

I agree with applique in the white spaces. Also consider using a good quality gold metallic thread for quilting.

p.s. I have to agree with QuiltE in that it already looks Christmas to me, plus the tree and presents will enhance that feeling.

Since when is red and white not Christmas-y?
Think ... Candy Canes ... and Santa's Suit?!

By itself, yes, it may not look Christmas in some people's eyes
... put it under the tree with presents
... no doubt about it, it's Christmas-y!!

Keep in mind it is YOURS ... and you already said that YOU like it ... that's ALL that matters!!!

Finish it off and enjoy it!

I concur with QuiltE .... it is the perfect complement to a decorated tree and such. I really think it stands out because of its simplicity. I look forward to seeing the finished top.

I agree, that in context, under a decorated tree, it will look like Christmas. I love it just the way it is.

It looks classy and Christmasy to me. You could appliqué a couple of crossed red and white candy canes in the white but I don't think it needs anything in my opinion.

You can always bind it in a predominately green Christmas print. If it's a tree skirt, what other holiday would it possibly be for (unless you leave your tree up until Valentine's day!)

I agree - once the tree is added it will be christmas, although when you get presents added you probably won't even see it. It is a really cute pattern, thanks for sharing it with us.
