Just a little thing to brighten your day. lol

Here are the speeches that I promised you.

This is Colin´s Speech:

Wedding speech Monday 3rd August 2009
I have attempted to have my speech translated for our Spanish guests
Especially as I am known for speaking to fast and for too long.

Now many of you may be hoping for me that today I just say a
FEW WORDS, sorry but you will be wrong

Here it would normally be the custom to thank the father of the bride but
on this occasion that is not the case but I am very pleased that Elle’s son
was here to give her to give her away.

My LADY ELEANOR is here amongst many friends that have shown
much kindness to us making this journey that has lead us to be together.
A special mention must be made to Carmen who was the first to show
kindness and friendship to Elle when she first moved to Spain, without
her help I may never have had the chance to meet Elle as she could have
moved anywhere else. Others here ERIC , JENNIFER, PAUL,AND
ANNETTE, JOHN AND JOYCE who have helped us by introducing us
to different types of dancing, Many thanks to them.
Some 9 yrs ago when I had to sell my home and relocate firstly to
SOUTH WALES, during a final barbeque ,A CERTAIN LADY called
Janet Crisp gave me a card stating that I always aimed high and should again this time for the moon and that if I should fall short then at least I should still
find a star, well she was most certainly right there, I found my star
MY ESTRELLA, ELLA ELLA ELLA and as many know I like my
BLING , diamonds and again with Elle she is certainly a real diamond
with so many facets to her kindness, patience, generosity in giving time
to so many others, she is a real inspiration to me.
I first saw her partly hopping, skipping and running to meet me on our first
date, I thought then that this lady is going to be funny, a bit wacky too
just like me.
Even at my young age I still get a little nervous when she may be a bit late returning from her sewing club, for she has made my life so complete, changed my
life in so many ways, my house to our home with much of her handy craft
skills, paintings, Quilts etc on display, so even when she is out part of her
is still there which is so comforting but not as good as the real thing.

Now as I finish my speech with the thanks to all that have travelled here
Some having flown in or driven a great distance, we thank you for your
Gifts not requested but very gratefully received. The greatest gifts we can
have is your friendship and your best wishes.
The greatest thanks must be to Elle for agreeing to be my wife. I am sure you
would all agree that my BRIDE, and Lady in waiting (LISA) all look
beautiful. Can you raise your glasses to toast our 3 beautiful bridesmaids
Allysa, Lydia and Faye.
Now it would normally the time to thank my best man but as usual I am unconventional and as much as I am so proud of my son in law he has
decided to stand down and not make a speech but leave that to my very
wonderful daughter Sarah .

Here is mine :

SPEECH

Welcome everyone, especially those of you who have travelled many miles to be here with us both today and I can assure you that has made it really special for us both.

First of all I have to say a special thank you to Alyssa, our Ring Bearer who made us very proud and Lydia who has been so helpful and Faye, I think Faye is a little bewildered by it all. We have a little gift for you each of you. Another special thank you to Lisa my daughter and Maid of Honour who has calmed me down and wiped my brow, and to my Son Paul who led me down the aisle. We have a little something for you both to. You all made our day.

I’d like to make a special mention of Sarah our BEST LADY not best man.
Sarah, made me feel so welcome right from the very first time I met her and I feel immensely fortunate to have such a lovely Daughter-in-Law who is also my friend.
She certainly has made this wedding special, because without all her efforts today would not have been half as enjoyable for me. She has made all the Bridesmaids dresses and they look beautiful, and a special bag for me to carry, and that’s not easy with 3 little ones to be a Mum to and having to go to work and be on the Board of Governors at her daughters School. Sarah this is from both of us thank you so much.

There are several ladies who I would have loved to be here with us today, but unfortunately they were not able to. These are my Friends in America, the UK and France with whom I have a special bond we all quilt, and their names are Kathryn in France, Melissa in Oklahoma, Terri in Guam, Patti in Tennessee, Katisha in the UK and Cheryl in Florida and Izy from Spain, I am so glad Izy that she managed to be with us today. I mention those ladies in particular because I have never met 6 of them, but they all got together even though they were thousands of miles apart they each sewed a beautifully appliquéd block and sent it to Patti in Tennessee who then made up the most wonderful quilt for us. The others ladies I speak to wanted this to be on Satellite so they could be here with us. I told them the time of the wedding so they have all looked at their specific times and are all going to raise a glass for us, so for them I want to say Cheers, I love you all.

I know some of you are not aware that Colin and I met on the internet and after several emails we met for coffee and well we just hit it off right from the start.

Three years later, on St Valentines day he proposed to me. He never actually said “Will you Marry me” so last night he got down on one knee and asked me.
Colin has always been there for me, especially recently when I had two operations he never left my side. He is a kind and warm hearted person and I realised that without those qualities our relationship and our future life together would not be as strong. Colin brings out the good in me, he makes me laugh and he makes me enjoy each and every moment of life just by being a part of mine. -They say that you don't marry someone you can live with – you marry the person who you cannot live without.
This is certainly true with Colin, I simply couldn’t live without him and I look forward to growing older and greyer with him at my side.

Our thanks to each and everyone of you for the wonderful gifts you have already given us and for the monitory ones which we will go towards some much needed things that need replacing.

Finally, let me end as I began, by thanking you all once again for coming today. I can honestly say that today would not have been the same if we had not been in the company of our dear friends and family, those present and those far away but in our thoughts. At wedding’s it is the guests that create the party atmosphere and you good people have certainly done that for us. May I propose a toast to you all and wish you love laughter and friendship and to my Husband Colin, I love you.

Cheers!

I will get Sarah´s because her words were truly beautiful, but haaven´t got them at the mo.

You lot crying lol
