So would a dark teal. I made a Bargello pink ribbon quilt with teal as the shading color and it looked great !

I would have like to have seen some of the blocks you have made. I think that gray might work but if you look at most quilts that work with color, there always seems to be some lights, mediums and darks. Just a thought. Good Luck. Your Mom will love it no matter what your choice is because you made this especially for her.

I have wanted to ad the little squares to my jellyroll quilts and was wondering how often to insert them. Is there any rule of thumb?

I love gray with pink; also a purple could be a good choice! I like the idea of adding a solid color block on the ends of the strips.

Grey would work, and how about a very soft mint green, that would look good as well. Perhaps eggshell white, if you don't want to add another "color" with the pink. Be sure to show us the finished quilt.

Thinking out side the Box other colors that contrast and look great with pink as stated Pink and Dark Brown very nice, Pink and a Lime Green bright and out going, Pink and Grey sedate, Pink and Black classic, Pink and Purple different, Pink and Red Valentines, Pink and White you are right maybe a white on white.... Pink and ......
