Fabric -New Year's Resolution....a FAILURE!

I too have HAD to buy fabric last week. I went to my flannel drawer and had one little strip of white, and no white broadcloth. I tried several other colors and none worked with the pink and green frogs I was using on the backing. Of course I did not have enough of that for the whole backing. So off to JoAnns and got 5 yards of broadcloth and 10 of flannel. Hope that will keep me out of the fabric stores the rest of the year.

Only 18 yards???? I gave up on those moratoriums a couple years ago. I belong to the "Life I Short" club, and if I see a sale or feel I need fabric for a particular project, I shop. That way there is no bad conscience afterward.

QuiltingHaven, sorry to hear your LQS is closing. Ours closed last fall. I'm happy you got some good deals, but I sure do miss our store. It was like 20 miles, but loved it. The owners and staff were awesome! But guess like everything else good, it had to come to an end!

I stopped making these commitments because you never know what is going to occur during the next 365 days. I wouldn't be able to resist a sale like that either. Sad that LQS still keep closing. There is only one LQS near me and they don't carry the bright color prints and batiks that I dearly love to buy to make charity quilts for foster kids !!

I have a similar situation......with a twist. I am out of town to help with my elderly parents (about 1000 miles from home). My sister took me to a discount fabric store of end of bolts and trim. While looking (I was NOT going to buy anything) I found designer fabrics like Moda, Riley Blake, Robert Kaufman, etc. remnants for $1.99/yd. When I say remnants, some were as much as 7+ yards. I spent $220 and now have no idea how I am going to get all of this home. I even bought space saver bags to "shrink" it and it still won't fit in my suitcase. Not to mention the additional weight!!! Any suggestions??
