Default Accu Quilt Problems

Hi everyone. First post. I recently purchased an Accu Quilt Go along with several dies. I am not having any luck at all. Everything I cut is off. I have tried all the tips I have found here about how to use it as well as read anything I can on the net about the machine. Has anyone had any issues with their Accu-Quilt? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Which dies are off? And in what way? Are you using prewashed fabric? If so, with or without starch?

Well. I have the 6.5 inch triangle die and it is off on one side by about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Then the value die that came with the machine, the half square triangle is off on one side too. The only die that cuts a true cut is my 2.5 inch strip die. I do prewash all of my fabric and I have used starch and it seems to help some but not a lot. It looks like the blade could be bent. Then I have the 3.5 x 6.5 rectangle and one side of it is off about 1/8 of an inch.

Try cutting paper with the dies. If these paper pieces are not cut true, then the problem is definitely with the die and not with your fabric or how you are arranging it on the dies.

The blades can get bent if stored improperly. Where did you buy the dies?

I bought them at a quilt store that is an authorized dealer of Accu-Quilt. I guess I need to just take them back and see what they say. We have cut paper with them and it is off. This problem was when they were new out of the packaging. Of course I didn't realize it until I had cut almost 2 yards of fabric for a chevron quilt. Didn't notice until I started putting it together.
I was just wondering if anyone else have had the same issues with their accu-quilt

I think it's really unusual to have so many dies off. I have seen people report one die at a time in their collection being off. Definitely take the dies back to the store (along with the paper cuts, if you still have them). Sounds to me as if the dies were stored improperly, and that can cause the die blades to bend out of shape. Sometimes there is a factory issue with a particular die too. If the die is off, no amount of starching or other fabric manipulation will correct the problem.

You might want to join the accuquilters group at groups.yahoo.com and see what they have to say. It's a pretty active group of Go! and Studio users with a lot of combined experience.

I thought a couple of my dies were off, however, I found my problem was (1) my 1/4 inch seam allowance was off and (2) I didn't have the pieces match up correctly. Once I figured this out my problem was resolved.

I have also bent my dies from too many layers of fabric.

I would exchange the die for another one. Someone could have dropped that die package, stepped on on it, picked it up and put it back.
