Default Can anyone help with kona colors please?

I need to purchase some kona cotton online....looks like the best price right now is at Joann's....

If someone has the color chart, would you mind checking out Rich red, and pewter for me? Pics on websites look pretty similar for the red, but the pewter looks grey ( which is what I want) at J's, and it looks black on Hancocks of Paducah site!
I am making manly quilts for my 3 adult sons, all Ohio State Fans.....
Progress so far....Bonnie Hunter's Playing with Jacks....the next two will not have this many pieces! . I am going to tone this one down with some larger diamond in square blocks, and some solid borders....thank you!

Ooooo, I like it. I don't think it needs calming down, but I am sure any additions will just compliment it. Very pretty.

Just an FYI...the Kona at Joann's might not be the same as the Kaufman Kona at Hancock's of Paducah, so the colors may vary. The Joann's near me does not usually have the Kaufman brand.

Katier....there are lots of threads on this board discussing the origins of kona cotton...I had the same concerns prior to doing some reading...kona by kaufman is the trademark, and it's the same quality wherever it is sold. The closest Joann's to me is 45 min drive, and they only carry white and black, so I need to get this online. And waiting for shipping will be tough!

Thank you, Quilter! This needs to be larger, so my options are to make another gajillion hst's, or add some borders....with my quilting ADD, I choose the borders!

I don't want to stir up any dust, but the "Kona" that is sold at JAF is SECOND quality fabric produced by Robert Kaufman. When there are irregularities in the processing, printing or dyeing of fabric, those items are sold on the secondary market. That is when chain stores such as Hancock, Walmart and JAF buy the fabrics. That is WHY the fabric is NOT on the manufacturer's original cardboard bolt. I buy my Kona cotton from Hancock of Paducah located in Ky. It is a family owned business. I was amazed at the richness of the color and better weave than what I had been buying at the chain stores. When HOP have SALES and they do have 20% quite often around the holidays, that is 20% off of the regular price of $5.98 a yard, much lower than JAF normal price. REMEMBER when you are carrying that coupons that you are not buying LQS RK Kona but second quality goods. I use to work for a lady who ran one of the last privately owned fabrics stores in Orange County in CA and she taught me a lot of lessons on the buying and selling of fabrics.

Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Good luck with finishing it. I always love black for borders but red might also work out.

I have some Pewter and it is one of their greys. Can't find any of their red in my stash right now. Love your quilt!

I have a chart that is older but I'll see if it has those colors. I can take a pic of them next to my color wheel.

Someone from the Kaufman company posted here with conflicting information.

Here are pix of the two colors:
The first is the Pewter and the second Rich Red. just a note also that they have several colors in shades of grey (steel solid, Coal, Shale solid, shadow solid, silver, Medium grey solid...etc)
