Four doors down the street!
Coming home from walking the dogs this morning, my wife spotteda yard sale just down the street. She said she would take the dogs and so Icould check it out right away. Walked up and I was standing in front of a treadlemachine. Other shoppers were asking about the machine while I was paying forit. I have been searching for one for my wife for years and nearly gave up andnow I walk one home on a furniture dolly. Rodney was right when he saidmachines just start showing up.

You did great! If you don't already know it's most likely a Singer model 127. I'm guessing 127 due to the motor mount boss and position of the bobbin winder. That one will clean up and look great! Most of the Sphinx decals I see are pretty beat up. Yours is better than about 80% of the ones I've seen.
If you read the serial number you can get the date it was authorized to be made here:

I keep it bookmarked because I use it a lot. You can also download a free user's manual from Singerco.com.
I hope this helps and that you're not just shaking your head saying "I know".
If you're still learning about the old black machines be sure to check the sticky on cleaning it and Glenn's tutorial on cleaning and restoring the cabinet.
Congrats on a great find!

KenZ,
Good find, I have a couple similar to it.
For the machine, just use sewing machine oil and either cotton balls or the cotton pads women use to remove make up.

For the cabinet where the veneer is lifting, I use old plastic credit cards or those the leaches send in the mail to carefully work glue between the layers, then I clamp it down to dry. If your careful there will be minimal or no glue on the outside.
Then just clean it with something like Murphy's oil soap or similar and wax good with Bri-Wax. There are several tutorials here about repairing the finish on these old wood cabinets too. Most done by Glenn.

I just bought a similar treadle. I confess.
Grats on yours and for finding one so close! Nice score! I like the simple drawer design on yours with the wooden pulls -- I prefer it to the more ornate styles.
