Using the Slidelock ruler ... wish I'd known!
In the Main category, there has been a busy topic about using the Slidelock "device" for cutting fabric. It is not a ruler! It is used to put pressure ON the ruler or shape Cut. Instead of having to measure your cut from the opposite side, abut the SL against it, then cut against the edge of the SL you can do it all as usual...
Strange that videos teach to do the "switcheroo" way..

When I purchased it, the video said to do it this way.

Glad to hear it AZ Jane! I watched the one from the Slidelock company and it had the other way of doing it. Maybe I should send them this!

So you're saying the company that makes and markets the ruler is using it the wrong way and demonstrating it the wrong way? You are seriously considering sending them your tutorial that says their way is wrong?

It can happen. Read the post from AZ Jane above. Whatever, this method sure makes better sense to me.

It might make better sense for you but it doesn't mean the company's way is wrong.

Perhaps the person making the product vid is opposite handed? So it is right for them? I've not seen the product but I've seen the curiosity of the problem in other marketing stuff.

Opposite handed is not the issue. The OP is saying it's incorrect to put the slidelock directly onto the fabric and the "correct" way to use it is to put it on top of another ruler.
