I don't know the name but it looks like a 5 patch center with 4 patches in the corners. It would be pretty easy to draft out to any size. The white center and smaller white squares are forming the secondary pattern making it look complicated.

Indeed! Thank you, feline! What great directions 'Generations' has too! I was thinking of using this as a BOM for my Guild and having them supply the colored fabric. It will be easy enough for everyone to do and I can even refer people to the tutorial if they feel they need it! Many thanks!

It looks like an uneven nine patch with a square next to it, then a nine patch, etc. The 9 patch is scrap pieced in places and the square next to it is strip/scrap pieced. I have seen the 9 patch several times, but do not know the name of it.
I see Maniacquilter shows an example. If you use only the center block and then alternate with a "solid" square, you will have the pattern.

I see this as a very simple two block quilt. The blocks are smallish, simple and you repeat them as many time as you want to make the size quilt you want.
If you make the squares in the 8 patch block finish at 2", the cut strips will be 2.5" wide. This will give you an 8" (finished in the quilt) block.
If you cut the rectangles for the second block @ 4.5" x 8.5", you will have an 8" (finished in the quilt) block.
10 blocks across and 12 blocks long will give you an 80" x 96" quilt before/without borders.
Made this way, piecing this quilt can be rather brainless, repetitive, and done while watching TV with your hubs.

Thank you all! I am going to use a solid white for the chain and ask guild members to supply the colors. How do you go about limiting the choices people make? These are all muted, earthy colors. What other kind of choices might work well in this?
