Default Solved - our missing Elmers glue

A while back there was a posting about a shortage of Elmers Glue (a staple for a number of us quilters). I saw on the local news that kids are mixing the glue, water and food coloring to make slime -- there is supposed to be a recipe on the web. The company indicated that they had sold twice as much as they did in the same period the year before.

Yes I posted this in another thread. My granddaughter and her friends are some of the culprits!! I glue baste my quilt sandwiches so will probably order a gallon on Amazon. It isn't available in any of the stores around here. Nor are other brands.

I was behind a woman in the grocery that was buying 3 large bottles of Elmer's-when I asked her why, she explained the slime. Said her 13yr was constantly making it and figured since so many bad things kids that age could be doing, having her mixing slime seems like a nice activity and she was willing to keep supplying the glue!

Mystery solved. LOL My twins were complaining they want to the white glue and not the clear Elmers I came home with. Hopefully the store will have some soon because my one DD told me that the clear Elmer's glue does not glue. She wants the white. I was worried they took the white Elmer's glue off of the market as I could only find the clear.

I really enjoyed this thread. I made slime for my kids lots of years ago-they are all in their 40's now.

The younger kids love to feel the slimy gross mess. LOL
My kids made it using liquid starch
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Elmers school glue
1/2 cup liquid starch
food color, glitter, small toys, or anything else they wanted to add.
mix and knead and let sit for 15 min. Will last for weeks.
