I just watched Jenny from Missouri Star quilt company do a tutorial on the snail trail quilt block, I was wondering how hard this quilt is. I need quilt for a Wedding that is in four weeks. Do you think I could get this quilt done by them?

It looks easy but then when Jenny does any quilt it looks easy, haha..It looks like it is put together like a log cabin block as you keep adding to all sides. There doesn't look like there are a lot of seams to match just the four patch. What are your thoughts on this. Should I make this quilt or look for a different one. I could spend a lot of time sewing as no one is around just me so can sew as much as I want ..Thanks

I don't know why I want till the last minute to make quilts that I need for a present.

I think it would make a very nice wedding quilt. Go for it.
If you don't finish it on time just give them a raincheck
or make a pillow to match the quilt.

I tried one years ago and found it confusing. With only 4 weeks I'd look for something like Warm Wishes.

i think snails trail is a great pattern and if you want that one, do that one. as previously stated, if not done on time, show a picture of the progress and let them know it will be given as soon as possible.

Just about ANY quilt can be done in that time. The real question is how much time do you have to devote to piecing, quilting and binding a quilt over the next four weeks?

Just viewed that tutorial you referred to, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwM...EF21A981F69C28, and the final block looked a little choppy to me. I've made this quilt before and never remember it being so...not smooth.

If you have the time to devote to this quilt, I recommend you find a different pattern for it. It can be a beautiful quilt that's smooth. Maybe this one; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkIu-HnS_oQ

Just watched video recommended by orange room. Seems like a large block......but easy too.

if you go on pinterest they have a free pattern to do it by paper piecing ... that's how I've done mine ... not hard at all! But, time consuming

I think the most difficult part about this block is working with the bias edges on the triangles. If you don't have problems with bias, go for it! This block makes an elegant two colour quilt.

If you don't get it done "in time", what is the big deal? Do you think the bride and groom will turn down a wedding Gift? No sweat... no rush either.

This is a hard block unless you paper piece. Notice how Jenny is always saying that she has to square up? And if you look at the quilt behind her, almost every block has mismatched seams. I would not make this quilt on short notice, and if I had to make it, I would paper piece it. That said, I love the snail's trail block and really want to make a big quilt using it some day.
