The black is fine, but, have you considered the dark grey or even the blue? All are dark and would give a definite end for the eye. BTW, very striking top, I really like it.

I agree with Sewnoma about not using the black. I would use the yellow, orange, white. What do they look like against the top?

I'd probably choose blue. I'm not fond of white bindings because they seem look soiled so quickly. It's a great quilt, no matter what you choose.

Since there is no black in the quilt, I think I would go with the blue. I think the blue would tie everything in and complement the other colors.

Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts and feedback, this is why I love this community!! In all honesty I never even thought about the grey or white for binding, so thank you! The backing will be grey so I'm going to go with the grey for the binding as well, I did give a lot of thought to the white as well, and agree that it would be a great choice, but this is for a 9 yr old boy and they can be more rough and tumble. Thanks again everyone!

I like your choice of the grey -- I think that's a wise choice. Beautiful quilt!

I would never bind a quilt in white unless I absolutely ran out of any fabric. I read once that you pick the darkest color in the quilt top and go with that color. I think black is too dark for this quilt, how about that blue ?
