Question Red Jello

Years ago I had a red jello salad that had chopped celery, walnuts and I can't remember what else.
I never fixed it. It was on the buffet at church dinners.
Does anyone have the recipe? I know it didn't have cottage cheese or mayo on it. My brain is tired from thinking.

Waldorf Crown Salad

2 (3 oz.) strawberry Jello (some times I use raspberry)
1/2 C. thinly sliced celery
1 C. cubed apples
1/4 C. chopped walnuts

Dressing:
1 C. sour cream
1/2 C. Miracle Whip (not mayo)
1 1/2 C. miniature marshmellows

Dissolve Jello in 2 C. boiling water; stir in 1 1/2 C. cold water. Chill until thickened by not congealed; fold in apples, celery and walnuts.

Pour into 5 C. containers. Chill until firm. Unmold if desired or just spoon onto lettuce leaves on plates.

Mix sour cream with Miracle Whip. Fold in marshmellows and then top salad with the dressing.

Never tried this but it sounds like one of those old mid-west standards from the 40's or 50's. Copied the recipe and will give it a try. Thanks.

Cranberry Salad - I often double this to use up the whole can of sauce

1 cup cranberry sauce - the strained jelled kind that comes in a 15 oz can
1 small box strawberry (or cranberry) jello
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup chopped apples
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped nuts
Dissolve jello in half of the boiling water
Pour over cranberry sauce, add other half of boiling water and
stir or whisk until smooth. Cool and add everything else. Chill

Usually the hot school lunches were very good.

But one day they served red jello that had corn and green beans in it. I did not eat it.

I like all three ingredients - but separately.

The classic Cherry Coke Salad (1960)

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple
1/2 cup water
2 packages (3 ounces each) cherry gelatin
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
3/4 cup cola
DIRECTIONS
Drain pineapple, reserving juice; set fruit aside. In a saucepan or microwave, bring pineapple juice and water to a boil. Add gelatin; stir until dissolved. Stir in pie filling and cola. Pour into a serving bowl. Refrigerate until slightly thickened. Fold in reserved pineapple. Refrigerate until firm. Yield: 10-12 servings.

I'm with you, Bear, I don't care for "things" in my Jello either. Finally realized that's likely because of the way I often eat it....smoooshing it against the roof of my mouth with my tongue, LOL!!
