Ditto on what Lstew said. Looks like we don't have any Carolina birthday swappers per Barb's post (1507) but there are a several in VA, MD and NY. It appears the storm will actually pull in cooler, dryer weather in GA so that's a good thing for us. Be well, everyone.

So when I was told that I was making this T-shirt quilt and thought ......oh no I don't want to do that!!!! I contacted someone who commissions to do them. She said it would be around $500.00 (that includes quilting) plus supplies.

I am going today to my mom quilt group and some ladies are going to get me started. They are working on one now. Wish me luck.

Today is September 11th.

Such a sad day in our lives. A day that has changed my life forever in the way I look at the world. After 9-11 I joined the American Red Cross and was later deployed to NYC. I was stationed out there in Feb/March of 2002. I worked as a mental health worker. So many months after the attacks, and the city was still in shambles, it looked, smelled and felt like a war zone. Some of the people I helped STILL had not come out of their apartment since that day. I think of these people often, I wonder how they are doing today.

I hope that everyone takes just a moment of your day to think about the lives that were lost, but mostly about the lives that went on without their loved ones. That is the true tragedy.

<3 Barb

Default Mystery Completed

I finally finished quilting the mystery quilt. I put a 6" pieced border all around to make it larger. I used my abundance of lights. At first I didn't think I would like the lights, but now that it is finished, the border doesn't compete with the strong center design which is good.

The pieced border took longer than the whole rest of the mystery quilt. I kept asking myself "what were you thinking?"

I regret using polyester batting. It was harder to quilt with all of the poofiness. I couldn't get rid of the wavy border no matter what I tried. (The picture doesn't look very wavy, but I straightened it into submission before taking the picture.

The back was pieced with large squares of scraps.

Thank you for the mystery Barb! This was alot of fun...

Jenn. Your quilt is beautiful.

How larger does it measure now?

Smile Ta-da!!

I finished the Birthday Swap Mystery Quilt last evening. Now to try and upload a photo. Here goes.

Well this looks too small. I will try the resize thing again. But none the less..... it is finished!
Finished at 58 X 78. Now to upload some other finishes from this year using my 2.5 candies.

#2 is my version of the Mystery Train #18 quilt. Used about 260 of our little 2.5 inch squares.

SheriR, I love, love, love your border. What a fine way to use more of our little treats. You must have gone well beyond the 500 estimated for the quilt. Congrats. (PS. Your envelope arrived yesterday and in plenty of time. I will add you to m lisyt in a few days.)
