Wow! Tartan! Snow?! I hope this word doesn't reach too many people in North Carolina! Here that word sends us to the nearest grocery store to stock up on Toilet Paper, Bread, Milk, Beer, Snacks, and lunch meats!! It doesn't really matter where the snow is forecasted for... we just panic!!
It's been in the high 90s here, very little rain, but it is normal for here in July, so that rush to the grocery stores would seem strange... except for watermelon and corn on the cob and soft drinks.

Are you asking about ( cool) as in an escape from the recent summer heat? Or cool- as in really “neat place”?[/QU I'm talking about the heat.....we have broken the heat three days in a row and have a few more days to go. We don't have this hot until august and then not for long. it seems it is all across the country.

Oh jetayre, how I feel your pain. I live fairly close to you geographically and this heat wave is stifling! And I live out in the country. I only have window unit AC in the bedrooms (1 of which is devoted to my LA and the guest room is where I do my piecing) needless to say, I have been spending as much time as possible in the AC. I keep hoping to see a cool down in the forecast and there isn't one. I imagine the sweet Alpacas in your avatar are really not happy in this heat. I know my animals are miserable. Even my chickens are panting.

It was cool in Northern Indiana this a.m. I got out and weeded an entire flower bed from 7 to 8. I think it was only in the low 70s. Very pleasant, had to swat a few mosquitoes, but then about 3 p.m. I looked at the little weather station and it said 92!!! I've been in here all day trying to put sashing on the fall star swap.
The automatic irrigation system mal-functioned and drained all the fertilizer out and watered everything two or three times over. I guess that is a good thing. Any place that does not get irrigation, is bone dry. Usually it turned off real dry on the 4th of July.
