I love this log cabin quilt! Agreed that the black calico totally works. It's the quintessential scrappy!

Here's what I finished over the weekend. It's been a year in the works, because it always kept being put on the back burner as other quilt ideas came. I'm not too sure I like the black calico border, but I hope it grows on me. I didn't want to buy anything as the whole quilt top is made from scraps. Now into the pile to be quilted it goes!

And the only reason I am pushing panic is I am trying to get a charity quilt done for someone in my home town. He was licked by a dog (or several at a party) and contracted a bacterial infection. They've had to remove his nose, both arms and both legs.

They're having a motorcycle ride/benefit for him and I am making a quilt to donate as a raffle item. I don't know the man personally, but my son said he went to school with his son. So.....it's what we do, right?

Since it is a motorcycle benefit, I'm making this quilt for them (hence me being pressed for time....but I'll get'r done!) The benefit is Oct. 6th.

I have to finish the backing, the finish work on the appliqued squares (still need to finish the inside of those) and then quilt it. Not bad. I thought the chevron looked like tire tracks. LOL

What a horrific thing to happen because of dogs licking a person! I can't imagine how fast that infection must have spread, and the trauma of losing both legs, arms and his nose because of it!! I am so shocked, sickened, and terribly sad for this man and his family. What diseases did the dog(s) carry? I am just really upset to hear about this, and wonder what the odds are. To have one's life altered by such a seemingly friendly act.

I too am horrified by the dog licking infection. I even dreamed about it.

I ran across a photo of a very scrappy quilt I finished for a friend. I had used a similar black print border. I like it!

Wow!! That is a lot of tiny flying geese.

Red, OMG, that is terrible about that boy. I've heard that on the news and it is so sad!!! Good luck on getting that quilt done in time.

I've had a crazy month and have over extended myself. My daughter and husband from HI came for a visit. Love them so much. We had an amazing visit!! Working on a few donation quilts and cutting kits for an upcoming Blocks for the Braves Sew In. I'm so blessed to be retired and loving every minute!!! I'll get to making more 9P blocks after I return from a Kimberbell Retreat in Big Bear, Ca. Thanks for the additional week Sewbiz!!

sewbiz, that is a LOT of geese in your sewing room! I haven't tried making those. Sorry you had the same experience with the candies. Lots of mine were fine, but others, not so much.

Here's the story about Greg and what caused his infection. His attitude it fabulous. I was told he is home with his parents. He and his wife live in a two story, and he needs a ranch, so they are putting their house on the market and will buy what he needs as time goes on. I'd like to say I'd be that positive, but I know better. I've only the binding left to do, and I'll get that done in the next few days.

I've been busy working on 9 patches LOL! I am about 1/2 done. They really do go quickly once you sit down and get busy with them. I am gaining a new appreciation for them, actually! And it really does give great practice for the 1/4" seam. I bet I have these done by the end of the weekend. Way to go, me!

I found this on pinterest this morning and thought....hm...do we ever do a solid swap? I love the colors. Her quilting, though, is particularly attractive....

Wow, that man has a much better attitude than I would. I hope they don't have to amputate any more.

I love the little solid and white 9P quilt. So sweet, and her quilting is fabulous! More ideas...

I received packages from Libster and NZQuilter today. Thank you, ladies.

Just saw this quilt that TAMARATJO posted... Would totally work for these blocks we are making, for a scrappy look.

Queen Size Quilt and Shams completed! Quilting Questions

My mistake... 17 swappers. I had copied the old list with two Libsters, hence I got 18... but it's 17. 17 swappers, the blocks due on the 17th. 17 is the significant number!
