Default Alternatives to bread

Need suggestions or a flour to use that possibly has less carbs.

There are low carb wrap-ups (like tortillas) available. You can make a wrap instead of a sandwich.

Go without!!!
I'd sooner have the fillings than the bread of a sandwich!

Can you tell I am not a bread eater??
...... that is unless it is warm homemade bread, slathered with butter!!
Any kind of bread will do ....

I really miss bread. Before I had to get serious about cutting it all the way out, I found the Franz "white" whole wheat bread had the best size slice/carbs for a sandwich. There are the sandwich thins too, they were all the craze for quite awhile but harder to find now. Costco carries them, as does the Franz outlet stores. Tortillas can have less, but my portion size is just one 6" whether flour or corn.

We do lettuce wraps for sandwiches, one of our favorite going out treats is a Jimmy John's Unwich, everything from their subs but rolled up nicely in lettuce. Other chains also offer lettuce wraps but Jimmy Johns does it the best. There were no options at Subway that were better for me carb countwise.

Hubby is pure keto, I'm just low carb. One of the other things we do is make a sandwich between two slices of cheese and no bread. You can spread toppings on the cheese but best with just meats and limited veggie.

There are super low carb breads that you can order. Great Low Carb Bread Company is one, I believe it is available through Amazon even. We can go to Tacoma Boys and buy it frozen there on our way to my relatives. It is pretty darn good stuff, but too expensive for every day and I'm just sort of uncomfortable with the concept of eating some of the non-digestible fibers.

There are many things that you can serve food on, like eggplant slices or it's great for those huge over-grown zucchini, or mushroom caps. You can even cut cauliflower "steaks". Cauliflower is very versatile, can mash like potatoes or used instead of rice. But the reality is they are all knife and fork sort of things and not the easy bliss of a sandwich with real bread...

I like the idea of low carb tortillas, we usually have a scrambled egg with either sausage or bacon crumbled up in for a quick breakfast. We are going grocery shopping tomorrow I will scour the bread aisle and Bob's Red Mill products for ideas to bake with.

Me too, fresh warm homemade bread is my downfall.

Almond flour makes a good "biscuit" type bread. The recipe is easy, basically almond flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, butter. You can jazz it up, w/ chedder for cheddar biscuits, or italian seasoning / Parmesan cheese for pizza crust, or artificial sweetener cinnimon and pecans w/ a cream cheese frosting for sweet rolls.

Then go with ignoring the bread when it is "just" bread ....
.... and totally enjoy it when you get the good stuff!

You know what you have done ... have me hankering for good bread.
Lucky for me ... we have an old-fashioned bakery here in the village and I can satisfy that need, easily!
