Default does this look weird?

I wanted to do a wall hanging of all FMQ ... I really like the poppies, but I don't think I should have done my outline of the poppies in a contrasting thread ... also, I like my FMQ, but again, think I should have done it in dark thread, and then filled it in like I've done in the dark thread ...

thoughts?

Please, don't be "kind" just to be kind, if you think it looks weird, tell me LOL ... it's a practice piece before I do the real one!

Thanks

I like what you have done. I think if you used different thread to outline you would have lost the poppies

it does not look weird.
it looks fantastic!

i agree with cjsews.
the contrasting threads - especially since the fills are darker - were the perfect choice.

I think you get to do what you want. If anything....I would have used a fine blending thread for the pebbling in the background. To me the blue and thicker thread distracts a bit from the motifs. As I was looking at, while it looks fine....I was thinking...how would some more variegated thread look? I was thinking maybe a variegated blue greens for the greenery and maybe some red/orange/yellows for the flowers...I can see quite a few color combinations.....might be fun to do a couple more practice pieces and just vary the thread combo's to see which really strikes your fancy. what is the finished project going to be used for?

I really, really like it. It does not look weird to me at all. I've never seen a piece that you have done that I did not like. Thanks for sharing it with us & I'd say finish that wall hanging & let us see the final piece.

I would do a slightly less contrasting thread. Or as someone else suggested, use a different colored thread for the stems and leaves to make the flowers really pop.

I like the poppies and the outline too. I think I would have done all the background in the dark thread so it wouldn’t pull the eye away from the poppies. Very pretty!

All I can say is, if that is a practice piece, I can't wait to see the real thing.

I think it looks great. Maybe a little more detail in the outside leaves is called for.

Oh heavens no, not weird at all. And I'm not just being nice, just ask my teenage daughter a few years back, she'd gladly tell you, I'm brutally honest. 😉
