Wow! I've never seen shellac all cracked like that. Do you think it will rise from ashes a different color? New shellac or paint is all next level stuff for me. Good luck!

I was planning to upload more pictures of this machine but five is the limit. Any one know a way around this? Looks like the post went through. Here is a nest I found in the base.

I didn't notice in the auction photos that the take up lever was broken off and missing. The bobbin slide plate is missing. The belt guard was broken in shipping.

You'll be using wasp and hornet spray as a cleaner?? I hope it doesn't hurt the finish...

Love my Spartan! Can't wait to see yours when you've brought her back to life.

This machine was in such bad shape I've decided to use kerosene to clean the entire machine inside and out. The kerosene is working nicely with no harm to the machine.

As a temporary fix for my broken take up arm I'm us a metal eyelet as a replacement. In two of these pictures you can se me using a singer 99 to measure and bend the metal to the approximate size.

I fixed a broken take up arm with a cotter pin attached with thin wire and JB Weld, it worked OK.
