Speaking of Accuquilt, I know that BH does not give die information for her Mystery quilts. For those who have a cutter and can figure out which die is needed, do you use a die if you’ve got it or also buy it if you need it? I didn’t have an Accuquilt cutter when I did Grassy Creek last year.

Default Accuquilt

I most certainly use any die I can. It is painful for me to cut ( and then usually have to trim) so many small units. My AccuQuilt allows me to enjoy the process. If I don’t have the necessary die, I may purchase it if my LQS has it in stock or it will arrive before the reveal.
All that said, you do use more fabric so if you are a short on some yardage, it may not be for you.
Since my family decided not to come for the holiday, I am so looking forward to Friday’s kickoff. You ready?

With the two previous BH quilts that I've completed, members have no problem helping each other out via private messaging about which Accuquilt Die to use, when BH posts the clues. I was able to use my Accuquilt through most of the cutting. That's my biggest problem, trying to convert her directions into which Die I should use so I've messaged those that are available for their assistance and that's helped a lot. I have bad shoulders so using my Accuquilt is imperative for me.

I think it is great that members help each other out via private message. Bonnie does not want to ruin the mystery and says that if she posts the dies then some clever folks might guess what the block is and spill the beans so to speak. I use my Accuquilt dies, each year the arthritis in my body is worse so it saves me from the pain and also lets me enjoy my hobby. Looking forward to our first clue!

Yep..I use the dies I have and if I do not have the die I will usually order it as Bonnie tends to use the same sizes and shapes in her mysteries. So if I do not get the die in time for the clue this year, I will have it the next time. also, I find most of the shapes used in her mysteries are also ones that are used in other patterns that I do. I used to order the die I needed, other dies I wished I had, and then extra cutting matts to get to the magic number for free shipping. The mats do eventually wear out and they are expensive now. I also noted that now you need to spend 225 to get the free shipping. Wow that went up. (oh, not every size and shape is used for the next mystery but I have done several now and usually a size shape will pop up again in a few years)

I am so ready and so excited -- but weather forecast says a second "river" of rain is heading our way and due to start on Thursday. We are staying home anyway, let's hope power and internet stays on! It will be a good weekend to stay inside and dry, and so nice to have a new project to start

Yeah! New carpet was finally installed yesterday. First room to set up was my sewing room. I'm going to pull as I go on this one. Love the Mystery thru the Holidays.

I washed all of my mystery fabric today, and I have my Harriet's Journey sashing fabric prepared. My plan is to put Harriet together while I enjoy watching all of you work on the mystery clues.
