Default Fukusuke hand crank sewing machine

I acquired a Japanese made sewing machine and cannot find out too much information on it. It is in perfect condition and is hand cranked. Sews nice stitches. Anyone out there have any info?

It's possible that the machine was also sold in America under another name.

Here are Janey's instruction for posting a photo, which will be needed to get much help.

bkay

"We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Another way to post pictures can be found at 2021/2022, 2.5” Birthday Swap
And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at Uploading photos

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post."

Thank you, bkay.

I'm going to guess that it looks similar to

but without the motor and light and probably with what they call a spoked hand wheel.

It is called a 15 clone machine. Many of the 15 clones do not have a JA or JC number stamped or cast in the bottom of the machine, but some do. It would be interesting to find out if yours does. Some information about JA & JC numbers can be found at http://www.doubleveil.net/zssmp/resources.htm#jajc

You can read about 15 clones multiple places on Quilting Board. A good one would be Will the Real 15 clone please stand up
There are what some would call class 15 machines rather than clones. My standard for 15 clones is if it looks like a 15-88, 15-89 or 15-90 Singer machine, possibly with a knob or buttons on the bed to drop the feed dogs.

I can't read the gold badge. Is that where it says Made in Japan or is there some place on the machine that says that. Based on the name, it is possible that they may have not imported to the USA but could have.

Thanks for the info. The emblem says made in Japan. Serial no. F153657. The case it came in says Brother. Sorry I can't send a photo.

I hope you can send photo. Did you look to see if it had a JA or JC number? A serial number doesn't help with dating these machines, other than probably in the 1950s. There were importers from the late 1940s to early 1950s that did not properly display that the machines were made in Japan. Since it came in a case that says Brother it could be that they made the machine, but a lot can happen in the 70 or so years since it was made.

I think hand cranks are neat. Is yours a plastic or wooden handle?

The handle is wood. I tried to take photos but no luck. There is no way to add one on my thread caption. Thanks for replying

What kind of machine are you using? Phone, laptop or computer?

Can you send pictures in emails? I can send you my email address via private message and have you send it there.

I use an android smart phone. There is no paperclip as you stated in instructions. I click on the photo icon and wants a url. I also could not reduce the photo to 2mb as requested.

If I understand it correctly, Janey is saying to send the photo to her and she'll post it. Click on "Ourworkbench" on the left hand side of this thread. That will bring up her profile where you can send her a private message. Send her your email address, she'll send you hers and you then email the picture to her from your phone and she'll post it.
(Everyone wants to see your machine.)
