Good afternoon! I'm in my sewing room cutting a project for next week's retreat and decided to go ahead and start this thread. It's a paper pieced pattern (Little Firecracker by Jean Impey for Hoffman). There is lots of cutting. Plus I have to tape together four pieces of paper sixteen times. Lots of fun! When I'm done with that, I am taking a class on 11/20, Hot and Heavy by Annie and there is prework for that class. After that, I'll return to quilting and binding the stack of tops on the railing. I finished five since the last VQW so am slowly making progress. Of course, I made more tops in that time too!
So what are all of you planning for the weekend?
Next month's VQW will be December 13-15, 2024.

Yay Heather and yay VQW!!
For the first time in a long time, I will be able to at least play with fabric. My second cataract surgery will be Friday but I'm expecting it to go as easily as the last time -- and that brought back quite a bit of vision for me. I will still have to heal up for quite some time (2 months?? -- they haven't said definitively) before I can wear my specialty contacts but what I have now is such an improvement from a month ago that I am much more functional.
So the big thing for me this VQW will be to commit to fabric for the Bonnie Hunter mystery this year and cleaning off my sewing table in preparation. Yuck. I wish I was better at that sort of chore. I could make wonderful progress in 15 minutes, but my attention cycle seems to be working more in 30 seconds or less. Still, if I get enough of those done maybe it will be better??

I just recently started working on a Fall themed quilt. It will be blocks of Maple leaves in fall colors. I've got all the pieces cut and have one block made. Only 19 more to go, but unfortunately, I have made some mistakes on cutting. Of course, it wouldn't be me if I didn't mis-cut something. At least I got my seams to match up on the first block
. That is half the battle, isn't it?

Looks like I'm in!! Just got another order for a small crossbody phone purse. I now need 3 done by next Friday! Tomorrow will be a lot of cutting and prepping. That takes the longest. I hate when the buyer says "Just make it purple" or "Anything you make will be fine". I would much rather have them pick the fabrics. Stress--Thy Name is Indecision!

Yay!! We are home this weekend, currently I am sorting and cutting scraps so that I can use up the boxes of leftovers. I am also cutting 4 1/2 squares for a baby I spy quilt, for a neighbors granddaughter. I have about 2/3's of the pieces cut. So mostly cleaning and a little bit of sewing for me. Look forward to lots of pictures!
