Welcome to this month's Virtual Quilting Weekend! I won't be quilting this weekend but will probably be in my room some. We will moving to Tennessee in 5-6 weeks so am starting to pack some things. I will definitely be checking in to see what you all are up to!
So next month's VQW will be May 23-26.

I got a head start on the weekend (I probably won't have a lot of time in the sewing room) and managed to quilt and attach the binding to a quilt top that has been languishing in a box for a couple of years. If I find some time over the weekend I'm going to try to sew the binding down so I can get it off my UFO list. :-)

Raggiemom, thanks for hosting! The easiest way I got started packing up to move is to take everything off that is hanging on walls. Good luck packing.
I sandwiched another quilt yesterday, an applique using Steam a Seam2. I plan to FMQ in places and serpentine stitch on others. My order for 3 backside pieces arrived with one piece being perfect for the back!

I’m in again as well. Not sure what I’ll be working on yet. I just finished my Finish It for April which was to layer, quilt and bind a throw sized top. I have a bit of hand sew binding to do but that will only take me one evening as it is very small. I have plenty of projects to work on to chose from so I won’t have any trouble finding something to work on. Thanks for hosting while in the midst of packing for a move.

Even though we had been working at it, when it came to the last 6 weeks of living in the old house, we were not really ready to go... but we got gone!
Not much sewing in my plans this weekend. I am still working on organizing/purging the stash I did move and it is getting better all the time! I am looking for my Labyrinth Way pattern -- which I KNOW I have had on this side of the move. I am running out of places to look so might just buy a new one (without the corner that the cat chewed on for whatever reason he had). Of course, as soon as I order a new one the old one will fall on my head. I have 3 out of 4 fabrics for that project, looking for the perfect medium dark. Have great light, medium light, and dark... but need the right choice to get the 3D effect. There is a small chance I will drive the 45 minutes or so to my favorite "local" store today, but probably next week as I have an appointment this afternoon.
This past week I did wash two backs. Need to press the seam on one and find the seam correction on the front of that project. The other I need to double check my available width (should have plenty). When I did my prewash, I dried it just a tiny bit too much and found when I was pressing that one edge has a slight printing problem, random little folds/pookies along the selvedge with no dye. Will be easy enough to fix with about a 1" seam. Is a smallish check/plaid (like a 1" grid) and I will be matching the design just because it will be easy enough to do.
For those that celebrate, happy Easter!

I'll be following everyone else's progress, but I don't know how much I will get done. Hosting family on Sunday, only eight of us and the kids help but it will significantly cut into sewing time. I'm also at a point where I need to stop. clean, reorganize.

Yes, this is a long weekend for us. Today is a holiday, with very few things open. I need to sew the binding on two quilts and those are the most important things I must finish this weekend. One is a guy donation quilt and will be finished by machine. The other is for a quilt show at the end of next month. Its binding needs to be hand stitched to that backing. That is a job that my hands just do not like. My best bet is to spend an hour a day on the job, until it is done. Then hanging sleeve and label and it is ready to enter!
Tomorrow, we are heading to the 'Big City' to cheer on our granddaughters' hockey teams. They are participating in a multi level house league tournament.
I also need to make a tote for a very good friend. I have the pattern and the fabric. Now I need the time and the mojo. Plus I have about 20 yards of fabric for donation backings, that needs washing, pressing and piecing. I will be super happy if I get all that accomplished by end of day, Monday.

As I finished one of my UFOs from 4-5 years ago but just haven't taken any photos of it. Also finished a couple kitty quilts but ran out of binding so having to make more to finish them. The large quilt that goes with the kitty quilts will be put on the frame this weekend as soon as I add pieces to the sides to make it wide enough as it's 107x107 and my backing was only 108" but I did order 3.5yds so took off the bottom to add to the sides. Then wouldn't you know it, I found another backing I had ordered that would have been large enough. Hate when things like that happen but what the heck, I'd already chopped off the bottom and pinned the sides to stitch sometime this weekend. This is "man's sewing (Rob) burst block pattern and I have no idea how I'm going to quilt it as yet. It will be somewhat custom though. I used 25 different batik fabrics with a zebra background fabric as she loves zebras. I also have 3 throw pillow covers made with embroidered zebra designs, a different design on each one. The kitty quilts were just large scraps leftover from the burst blocks so nothing went to waste on these quilts.
So that's what I'll be doing this weekend as it's going to be chilly and windy around here in Iowa again so might as well make use of it in the sewing room.

I have been working all week on the Cleopatra's Fan quilt trying to get the layout to be pleasing. I've made additional blocks as needed to balance color and fabric placement. Down to just a few more blocks to finish, then cutting setting triangles and start stitching the rows. Would love to be finished by the end of the day Sunday, but this is Easter week-end I will be in church and with family for chunks of time. Progress is progress and that is what I am looking for lots of PROGRESS!
