I would like to order some wide-width fabric for backing my quilts but have never ordered fabric on-line. I'm overwhelmed with shop choices from doing the fabshophop, and don't know where to start. What do you recommend?

I saw some yesterday at fabric.com. They have some 108 inches wide as low as $13.99 per yard and the shipping is free if you spend $35.00 or more. That is the same prices my LQS has it for, and the selection on fabric.com is much better.

I always wait for it to be on sale at my local Hancock Fabrics. Then I stock up.

www.marshalldrygoods.com
www.nixiechicks.com

Both have marbled blenders at 108 inches for $5 a yard,
nixie chicks also has RJR printed backs for $8 a yard, fantastic quality. The marbled blenders are a little stiff, but they wash well. The RJR backs are beautiful and feel like silk.

I use regular size fabrics that I happen to have bought at a super great price. Only once have I bought a wide backing fabric.

And they offer free sample swatches if you want to make sure of the color.

Ditto, except I haven't bought extra wide ever. Every year, my LQS cleans house and discounts a bunch of bolts, so I stock up then. And then I just bought about 16 yards of backs on fabric.com, from their sale.

I just found three different colors of 200 thread count king size flat sheets in the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart...that's 108x102...for only $7.00! Got a burgandy one, a dark taupe one and a sagey green one. The burgandy one wasn't as big and was only $3 or $4...still well worth it.
