Has anyone else done all their cutting out only to discover an error in the pattern once you starting sewing:?

This has happened in 'Kate Oszko's Freewheeling' pattern - Australian Patchwork & Quilting magazine Vol 18 No 9. Needless to say, assumed I had made the error and after spending ages rearranging and checking, thought I'd check it out on the web. First hit - 'error message in pattern came up'. Oh well, off to buy more fabric!! :P

    Hi Kate,
Yes, I have had that problem too. The last one I caught before I went to far. It is sooooooo maddening! I made the adjustments and the quilt is coming out nicely now.
Good thing you can get more fabric!
Hope all is well with you.

Yes, I did. But I caught it before too much fabric was cut LOL. I can't recall the magazine, but I reported it to them and they did post it on their website as a pattern error.

Sorry you had to waste fabric!

Boy that stinks! Hopefully you can still find the fabric!

    Good Luck!

My sewing friend had an error in a Jenny Haskins book.
Thank goodness she realized the mistake after cutting 2 strips to short. Still had enough fabric to finish the quilt.

It's happened to me also and my DM calls it "The Quilt from He.."! We'll never make another one!

no, not when it has been the pattern's fault, but mine. that's why i try to remember to sew a block or two together to see if everything looks okay, before i cut everything out. and i might not even like the arrangement of the colors, or something.

Yes, I usually do that as I normally can't wait to see how the block's going to turn out. However, this time I thought I'd really be organised and get all my little bits cut out, ploybagged and labelled! That'll teach me ..... It's true what they say 'the old ways are the best'.

Fortunately I can get more of the fabric as the bits that are cut short are from a new range and my lqs has plenty of it.
    :P
