I am trying to find a way to Monmouth College in IL. I was thinking amtrak... but OH MY CARLISLE It is expensive!!! I need to know by tomorrow morning if i can get a ride with one of the other volunteers, and none of them are even responding to me... So, now I'm faced with Amtrak... and I'd have to come in Early...

The biggest problem is that I have to be there between 4-9 if I come in the day before... but... the cheapest two trains that will stop in Galesburg are 1030 am (arriving galesburg) and 842pm (arriving galesburg)

What am I supposed to do all day in a town I know nothing about... or rather, how am I going to get to Monmouth College in time before it closes.

    They'll provide a shuttle... I'm so lost!

hope you find a solution. Thought you might be able to spend the day at a quilt shop but none there...and that might be a hazard to your pocketbook anyway.

Take a good book to read. Or handwork of some kind. Or just walk around and get to know the area. Go over to the student center.

And that is surprising! I'm going to figure something out... even if that means me paying the extra money for getting there before 8

See if there's a local library. You can sit and look through their quilt books and if you have some hand work to do, it's quiet.

I might bring a little hand work for the train ride and for the sitting and waiting... I will need to talk to my dad about getting my train tickets too... I'm trying to keep them cheap... so yeah...

Maybe I can find a movie theater near the station... doubt it though.

The cheapest train I can get there is 17.00 which is perfectly fine... I'll be in the area around 10:30 am... and I'm trying to find the cheapest train home... but at this time it's not looking to promising... If anyone lives in the area... or near by, it would be great to have company.

What about a Greyhound bus or some other long-distance bus line?

How is all your stuff getting up there?

Once you're up at school, you can find people near you who want to share ride costs. They will posts on school kiosks or maybe a school website forum.
