This quilt pattern came from the May/June 2009 Issue of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make this quilt. The designers called it "Seams of Opal" because each 5" log cabin block looks like an opal gemstone (lots of color, brightness and brilliance). I also call it my "Happy Quilt." I made the quilt label (along with strips of fabric from the blocks) as part of the backing; and the quilter sewed through the label. (The label, by the way, was embroidered by fellow message-board member Sandi Philips - 'sandiphi'. Thank you so much, Sandi!) I'm not sure if you can see the quilt design. It's sorta hard to see it with all of the colors. This is definitely a great way of using up your scraps that don't seem to go with anything else in your scrap-pile. Thanks for looking!

I love it!
And I like sewing through the label, too, because that way, the label cannot grow legs and run away from home.
Happened to a couple of quilts I made.
