I never thought of doing a scrappy Irish Chain. Love the look. One of my many and varied UFO's is a Irish Chain but done only in blues and white. I kind of got stopped at how to quilt the large square. I like the idea of putting a more complex quilting design there but I am not a good FM quilter. What do you quys think about machine quilting the small squares and hand quilting the large areas?

Hi,

Am new to this board and to quilting. I have only been quilting for about 2 years now. I love it. I have more fab in the basement of my house than I think JoAnns does.

I wanted to compliment you on the quilt you made. It is simply stunning. I would love to know where you got the pattern, as I would dearly love a copy of it.

Happy quilting,

Janice

Mine is the first one pictured and I have just started it. It's not a quilt yet. I've about 90 blocks to go. As for the pattern, I googled Double Irish Chain and found a pattern. Someone else on this thread posted a link to a pattern. I think mine came from Quilter's Cache web site. That is an excellent site for all the old traditional patterns.
