I am so amazingly thrilled to NOT be going to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving that I had to share!!

DH's parents lives in Prescott and his sister lives in Albuquerque (and we're in Tucson). My family does Thanksgiving in Tucson on Thurs. So the plan was to spend Thanksgiving with my family and on Fri drive to Prescott and spend the weekend there, or his parents were thinking about coming to my family's Thanksgiving and hanging out in Tucson. Easy.

Well, a few weeks ago, his sister announced that we're doing Thanksgiving at her house in Albuquerque (at least this year she was willing to set it on a different day. 2 years ago she refused to move it off of the Thurs so I could attend). So we were supposed to drive to Albuquerque - kill me. 8 hours each way. It was going to be drive for 8 hours on Fri, sleep, spend Saturday there, sleep, drive 8 hours home on Sunday. And I wouldn't have time to do grading/lesson prep/etc since I can't read/write in the car.

Well, to make a long story longer, I finally told him it was too much for me and then my dad decided to come into town for Thanksgiving weekend (he lives in CA) b/c he had broken up with his girlfriend (sad, but they break up about once per month) so I have to stay since I can't leave him in our house alone over Thanksgiving so I don't have to go to Albuquerque *happy dance!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Weekend, with my family, not driving, Black Friday shopping, quilting, relaxing - so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for listening

Sometimes being able to stay home for the holiday is the best. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Now -- isn't THAT an oxymoron??? Black Friday shopping and relaxing all in one sentence!!! That can't happen!!! LOl Congrats!!! I know how you feel -- we're staying home and planning on enjoying it totally! And our drive would've been 2 1/2-3 hours one way -- but it wears me out!
